ABOUT ME

Self-proclaimed mermaid, adventure seeker and bibliophile

Hello! I am Emily, I also go by Em so feel free to use either of those. I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver area. I am slightly obsessed with capturing details and documenting your day to create a love story written with photographs.

I currently live in Abbotsford, BC but I love to visit new places and adventure. I have traveled to only 8 different countries but plan on visiting many more soon. My next big adventure looks like it will be in Peru! As much as I enjoy exploring foreign places, British Columbia in itself is one of the most gorgeous places in the world. I am always up for exploring new places in this beautiful province I call home, so if you would like to go somewhere cool I would love to tag along!

I love the clients who aren't scared to roll around in the grass and dip their toes in the cold glacier-fed water that beautiful British Columbia has so many of! Sometimes I ask you to do goofy things, sometimes I ask you to be in the moment with your loved ones and breathe them in. If you're okay with getting down and dirty and having a good time getting some stellar photos, we might be a great fit!
I have been behind the camera since I was young. I vividly remember getting my first disposable camera when I was in Brownies and we were going to have a sleepover at the Vancouver Aquarium. I took that flimsy little camera and tried my best to shoot everything I could with 27 exposures.

I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelors of Business Admin majoring in marketing and minoring in communications. It took me 6 years to finish my degree which is longer than I would have liked, but my first 2 years I actually went to university for photography. Why did I switch majors? Well, let me tell you! I took as many photography courses in high school as I could, and even taught photography as a teachers assistant for extra credits.

So loving photography so much in high school meant I would love it just as much in university, right? Wrong. I was trying to get my Fine Arts degree with a major in photography. So along with my photo classes, I was also taking drawing, sculpting, media arts... Etc. Things I had NO idea how to do, and did not enjoy doing (nor was I really that good at any of them)! So, I switched to business and vowed I would one day have my own photography business.

And here we are! I have a full-time job advocating for a cleaner planet and that climate change IS real and I own a small business which allows me to explore my creative side and meet amazing people!
Random Facts

Number 1

I love to scuba dive, and I love the ocean! I feel very lucky to live on the coast and have access to visit the ocean whenever I want. I even have a tattoo that says "Lost at sea" because I am pretty sure I was a mermaid in my past life and a part of me will always belong to the ocean.

Number 2

I have a dog, Nova, that I adore. She can be stubborn and shes sheds way more than I ever want to deal with, but I wouldn’t trade her for the world. (Could you tell?)

Number 3

My boyfriend, Devon, is my rock. He is the most supportive guy I have ever met and will always push me to be the best version of myself.

Number 4

I love video games. I grew up playing video games on my N64 and still continue to play games when I get a chance. However, time for games is far and few between as I try and maintain 2 jobs, care for a high energy dog and have a social life.

Number 5

Books. I love to read, mostly fantasy genre but lately, I have been trying to read classics and have fallen in love with them. The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my current favourite books ever.

Number 6

I care a lot about the environment. I try my best to reduce the amount of plastic I use. Diving in the ocean and seeing plastic bags caught in coral just hurts my soul. I know we can do better for a planet, and we need to try if we want to diminish the effects of climate change. My current goal is to continue to reduce the amount of plastic I use. My long term goal is to purchase an electric car.
